2023: The Year Mosquitoes Ate Connecticut
I don't know about you, but I feel like I got bit by more mosquitoes this season than I ever have in my life. My arms and legs look like a simmering pot of Ragu for God's sake. Isn't it time to die yet mosquito? It's October 9, and the cold weather can't come soon enough.

According to the State of Connecticut, and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Connecticut has been swarmed by the deadliest animal in the world this year. Warnings about Malaria, EEE, and numerous West Nile Virus alerts went out for most towns and cities across Connecticut throughout the Summer, up until just over a week ago according to Fox61.
I made the mistake of walking my dog along the Naugatuck River in Torrington on Saturday morning between those sheets of rain we were getting. It was humid, and I stupidly left my hoodie on the couch. Within seconds of leaving my house, I was attacked. I don't think that I've ever been bitten by a mosquito on my earlobe or eyelid before Saturday, it's truly left me stunned. I must have 6 deep bumps on my arms, 8-10 mountains on my calf and ankles, and huge hooters on my forehead, eyelid, and earlobe.
How much longer do we have to wait here in Connecticut? Not much, according to most of the pest control sites I cruised. Mosquitos thrive when the humidity is up, and the temperature is between 50-80 degrees. Daytime temps in the 50's are coming soon, hang tough Connecticut, and don't forget your hoodie at dawn and dusk.
