MoneyGeek, a financial technology company, crunched the numbers of small cities and towns with populations of 30,000 to 100,000 residents. After analyzing crime statistics by measuring the cost of crime, it was determined which ten small towns in America were the safest.

Franklin, Massachusetts, with a population of 34,000, earned the top spot. Two Hudson Valley towns considered the safest in America were Carmel, NY at number 3 and Yorktown, NY at number 5. applied research from the National Institutes of Health along with the cost of crime and types of crime to arrive at their findings.
