It's not related to Yelp, or owned by them, but this is bad news. The Peeple app supposedly launches today according to CBS News.

When it was announced that this app may be coming down the pike, people started freaking out, and rightfully so. This is bad news for me. It's bad enough that there are enough outlets in this world for people to complain about me, but this is all too much. On top of that, it's a free app. Anyone with an iPhone will be able to say, "Hey, lemme look up this Lou guy, and see what's what. Oh, he did this, he did that, and even his wife gave him a terrible rating."

In all seriousness, this is actually bad news for everyone. You are going to have slander and libel left and right. It will be a tornado of anger and misinformation. A wasteland where people can go be haters. Technology is doing a lot more dividing than uniting nowadays, if you ask me.

And, consider this. You are on a first date, and you say something you wish you could take back. You go for a short bathroom break, and your date takes that opportunity to look you up on the Peeple app. She finds out that you screamed at someone at an Orange Julius for not saying thank you when you held the door for them, and BAM. You are out, and you never even got in. There will be no sex in the champagne room, or anywhere else for that matter. So, good luck to us all, the world is melting, and we are just watching it happen.
