Will Chuck’s Legendary Salad Bar Survive the Barbarie’s Transformation?
There's been a lot of rumors swirling, but the big news finally broke Friday - Barbarie's Grill purchased Chuck's Steak House. Is the legendary Chuck's salad bar surviving the transition? I think it might if we speak up now.
The Barbarie family, who own Barbarie's Grill at the Danbury Fair Mall, and Barbarie's Black Angus Grill on Eagle Road, have announced that they have acquired Chuck's Steakhouse at 20 Segar Street in Danbury.
The statement the Barbarie family put out is mostly positive, but you know if you've been into Chuck's recently, the old place on Segar Street is beat up. Chuck's is going to temporarily close down in order to clean it up, but in the meantime, it's time to speak up. Barbarie's Grill is very interested in preserving the heritage of Chuck's and its 50 year history at that site, and they ask in their opening statement to longtime Chuck's fans what they would like to see survive the transition? I would love to the salad bar from Chuck's live on.
What has happened to the salad bar in Connecticut? Even before the pandemic destroyed the buffet-style eatery concept in 2020, we had a lack of salad bar options. Chuck's Steak House has a great one, and if you didn't know, there are still two Chuck's locations left in Connecticut. Chuck's Steak House on the Silas Deane Highway in Rocky Hill, and Chuck's Steak House - Storrs. I used to love the Chuck's at the Hartford Civic Center before it closed too.
Keep the salad bar concept at 20 Segar Road. Whatever the name of the restaurant may be? You have a winner with the upgrade in quality of beef, and professional service and hospitality that the Barbarie family works very hard to provide.
