What Was the First Concert You Ever Saw in Connecticut?
I made a shocking discovery as I was looking through my old ticket stubs over the weekend, the very first big concert I ever went to by a major act happened nearly 40 years ago.
What was the first big concert that you ever saw in Connecticut? Were you lucky enough to see Queen, Aerosmith, or Bruce Springsteen at Waterbury's Palace theater? I wasn't old enough, but my brother Mark went to Aerosmith and Queen. Were you in the crowd when Mick and the boys played Toad's Place? How about Kurt Cobain and friends at The Moon in New Haven? Unfortunately, I didn't, but I'd love to hear who took your concert virginity.

As for me, the very first national act I saw live was U2, they played the Hartford Civic Center on April 20, 1985. The show had been postponed two week, it was originally scheduled for April 5, 1985, and it was worth the wait. U2 was out promoting their new album The Unforgettable Fire and riding the huge success of the first single Pride (In the Name of Love). It blew my mind to be in the same building as Bono, Edge, Larry, and Adam. U2 beat the hell out of us that night, performing a 16 song set.
