What's the worst parking lot to take a left-hand turn out of in Watertown? According to a social media post from LaBonne's and Watertown Talks, it's the left you try to take onto Straits Turnpike from the LaBonne's parking lot. I disagree.

I admit, there have been many times where I have given up on taking a left at the intersection you see in the photo above. It's a weird 360 exit/entrance that was always bad when you had the shufflers from the Watertown K-Mart sneaking past and blocking your view from the right, or a speedy VW from Valenti exiting their parking lot on a test drive. Add in McDonald's and Jersey Mike's traffic? Yeah, it's tough, but is it really bad enough to warrant a traffic signal as some commenters suggest?

I've taken the alternate route suggested in the post to Bunker Hill Avenue a few times, but i typically wait it out at the usual exit.

My vote for the worst left-hand turn in Watertown goes to the Enterprise lot at 1175 Main Street. No matter what time of day, there is always traffic coming from both directions at this spot. Dunkin traffic, Shaker's traffic, Adams traffic, and remember when Starbucks used to be in that plaza? That was the absolute worst pplace to try to take a left, especially in an unfamiliar rental car that you're still adjusting the seat and mirrors on.

I'll even throw in a bonus bad Watertown bad left-hand turn - G's Burgers/Carvel (RIP) onto Strait's Turnpike Southbound. That's my two cents.

I Finally Gave In and Ate a Piece of Waterbury Restaurant History

The Grotto Restaurant was a simple Italian food institution on Waterbury's Watertown Avenue for most of my life until it permanently closed 2 years ago in the Summer of 2023. I had a package of frozen ravioli from the Grotto in my freezer for the past two years, it's finally time to say goodbye to the last piece of pasta I've held on to for so long. Join me.

Four Businesses in Waterbury That Would Survive The Apocalypse

There are just some businesses too engrained in our neighborhoods that recession, price increases, cordyceps, and even the apocalypse could kill. I spent 50 of my years in Waterbury, and these four places have not changed, nor should they.
