Waterbury’s 350th Anniversary Celebration Will Be a Two-Day Event
Waterbury, Connecticut is turning 350 years old this year, and if you thought that the Brass City would celebrate for one day only, you are mistaken. One of the best international festivals in the state, if not all of New England, happens the very next day.
According to the Office of the Mayor of the City of Waterbury, Waterbury's 350th Anniversary Community Festival will take place on Friday, September 27 from 4:30 - 8:30PM on the Green in downtown. The event is free to get in, and there will be food trucks, live entertainment on stage, and games for the kids. While that might get a few of you to come down and have a good time, the event that's happening in Library Park the very next day is one that you should not miss.
I took this photo you see above at the very first 'Gathering' in Waterbury 5 years ago, and now it's an event that you truly should not miss. Fresh off all of the international exposure that we've all taken in this Summer by watching the Olympic Games, the 2024 edition of The Gathering Parade and Cultural Fair will take place as part of Waterbury's 250th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 11AM to 7PM in Library Park.
It's truly a fantastic event that takes over most of that whole area of downtown, with food trucks serving an incredible variety of cuisines. The best part? Watching the participants celebrate their heritage, with no political divide. Nice job Waterbury.
