Seven feet of water gushed into the basement of the Danbury Railway Museum this past Monday.

According to the Danbury Railway Museum's FB page, Monday's flood was caused by a water main break which caused hundreds of gallons of water to flow into the basement of the museum.

All power had to be shut down due to water damage to the mechanical and electrical systems and the heating system also had to be drained to asses the damage before repairs could begin. Unfortunately, the 38' tall Uncle Sam statue will remain in the dark until systems are up and running again.

The flood couldn't have happened at a worse time as the ever-popular Santa Express Train Event debuts this Saturday, December 7. To keep track (see what I did there?) of all that the Danbury Railway Museum has to offer, click on danburyrailwaymuseum.org.

My 5-year-old grandson, Bradley is an avid train enthusiast and absolutely adores the Danbury Railway Museum. In fact, he's learned many of the names of both employees and volunteers. Here's a photo of Bradley with his 13 car lego train in the middle of the EverWonder Children's Museum in Newtown.
