Energy Honey Recalled After ED Drug Found in Product
According to Newsweek, if you sweetened your breakfast with a very specific kind of honey this morning, your workday might have taken a… confusing turn.

The FDA just issued a recall for a batch of honey after discovering it contains an ingredient typically used to treat erectile dysfunction. Yes. That kind of ingredient. The honey is made by a Virginia-based company called Akkarco, and it’s marketed as a specially formulated “energy support” honey. Which, in hindsight, feels like a bit of a wink we all somehow missed.
After testing samples, the FDA found tadalafil in the product—the same active ingredient used in Cialis. So instead of just getting a little boost to start your day, you may have gotten a pharmaceutical assist you absolutely did not sign up for.

The FDA says side effects can include dizziness, headaches, and changes in blood pressure. And, uh… other noticeable developments that are probably not ideal when you’re just trying to answer emails or sit through a staff meeting.
To be fair, this isn’t your average squeeze bear from the grocery store. The honey comes in packaging that looks more like a supplement or medicine bottle and is labeled “Energy Support,” which should’ve been our first clue that something weird was going on. The recalled bottles all carry an expiration date of October 2028 and were sold through the company’s website, as well as major online retailers like Amazon.
So yeah. Wow. You just wanted honey, and now you’ve gone and made it awkward, Gene.
