Pereira defeated Israel Adesanya at UFC 281 back in November. Now, it was time for his city to honor him, and that ceremony took place at City Hall recently. Pereira was flanked by his team and former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Glover Teixeira.

At the podium next to Pereira was Danbury Mayor Dean Esposito.

Congratulations to Alex and his whole team on a job well done. This explosion of UFC talent in Danbury is good for the city in a lot of ways, and I hope it attracts other fighters to the Hat City to learn from Glover.

I was talking to the Danbury Mayor on Friday (10/2/22) about this ceremony and he was delighted for Pereira. I feel like the fan fanfare should have been bigger for Alex but it seems to be a fan expectation now, that Danbury fighters are going to win.

P.S. Is it just me, or does Dean look really short here?

He's not as short as he appears in the above photo. I'm 6 foot, and he looking tall "AF" here. I guess standing next to world-class athletes will have that affect on you.

Danbury Officials Throw Parade for UFC Champ + Hat City Resident Glover Teixeira

Glover Teixeira had already met with the new Mayor Elect and was swarmed by fight fans and Hat City residents in Roger Park. All that was left to do was an official parade and ceremony for the public which took place on Sunday November 14, 2021. Flanked by local officials Glover took a ride down Main Street to Rogers Park where he was gifted a plaque commemorating his victory over Jan Blachowicz.

Camping for Cans 2022

Camping for Cans is an annual event thrown by I-95 to collect cash and non-perishable food items to benefit the Hillside Foot Outreach. Hillside feeds those in-need, in the Greater-Danbury area. Each year we gather in a Brookfield parking lot and have fun in the name of the Greater good. The 2022 CFC was as good a year as we've ever had, take a look.
