Once upon a time, in November 1890, Frank Conley bought a 100-foot by 214-foot lot on the corner of Main Street and Maiden Lane in Torrington, CT, for $8,000. Frank and his wife, Alice, built a hotel named the Conley Hotel.

It was managed as a family business throughout much of the first half of the 20th century. After the Conleys passed away, the hotel had many different owners. When the hotel was combined with the restaurant in 1956, the name was changed to "The Yankee Pedlar Inn."

The inn closed on December 1, 2015, to allow for much-needed repairs, but due to dwindling funds, the money finally ran out, and it has remained closed for over nine years. When a property is abandoned and boarded up for several years, it becomes prime real estate for paranormal investigators and movie producers, and that is precisely what happened.

In 2011, a supernatural horror film about "The Yankee Pedlar Inn" titled "The Innkeepers" was released starring Sara Paxton, Pat Healy, and Kelly McGillis. Let's go take a look.
