Three Connecticut Beach Towns to Get Floating Wheelchairs
Donated floatable wheelchairs which resemble beach recliners will help to improve the lives of disabled adults and children.
A Massachusetts non-profit named SMILE(Small Miracles in Life Exist) has donated over 130 beach wheelchairs to the towns of Westport, Fairfield, and Norwalk according to westportnow.com.
Have you ever attempted to maneuver any apparatus with wheels through beach sand? It's an exercise in futility but these floatable wheelchairs are equipped with shock-absorbing wheels which make them easily maneuverable over-sand.
SMILE Mass president, Lottie Diomede explained to Westport Now that the main objective of her company is to "create recreational opportunities for disabled children, adults, and their families." For the very first time, this will give the disabled a chance to enjoy the beach, both sand, and water.
