You may think you're the life of the party, but you may actually be the death of it.

Airbnb has conducted a study to find the age when people are most boring. To be fair, the poll focused only on folks in Britain, who stop whatever it is they're doing in the middle of the day for tea and crumpets, so, yeah, they know a thing or two about boring.

According to the research, women hit their boring peak at 35, while men do so at 39. It's not until we hit 50 that we begin deciding to try new things again. Chalk all this up to the fact that people in their 30s tend to have kids and choose to be cautious, while at 50 their offspring may be leaving the nest, giving them a renewed opportunity to be the daredevil they never could be while shuttling Junior to and from soccer practice.

What age are we at the apex of our risk-taking? "Apparently 27 is the age at which people are most likely to be trekking across the desert, dancing on bar counters or taking up base jumping," reports Metro.

To determine if a person truly is boring, the study asked people how likely they are to try the following activities. If you're not up for any of these, maybe a rousing game of Parcheesi followed by dinner at 3 is in your future.

  • Staying out until the early hours on a weekday
  • Trying a new hobbyguy
  • Going out of the way to make a new friend
  • Booking a spontaneous holiday
  • Learning a new skill
  • Visiting a friend unannounced
  • Changing jobs
  • Going on a spontaneous shopping trip
  • Asking someone out
  • Trying a new sport
