He was born in Newtown, and then his family moved to Roxbury before heading to upstate New York. He's Sawyer Fredericks, and Friday night he returns to Newtown to headline their annual Arts Festival.

We got a chance to talk to Sawyer about his roots in Newtown, The Voice, and we played "One Second Trivia". Check it out:

He may only be 18-years-old, but Sawyer Fredericks is an old soul who was a surprise winner of season eight of NBC's The Voice.

He was part of Team Pharrell and went on to set iTunes sales records for the show as well as being the show's youngest winner at age 16.

According to wikipedia Fredericks broke many series sales records for The Voice, with eleven singles reaching the iTunes top 10, and 14 singles charting in the Top 200 during the final week. A total of nearly one million digital singles were sold in the course of the show.

Born in Newtown, his family moved to Roxbury before relocating to a farm in upstate New York, that's where the music bug really bit him. He started small, playing local farmers markets, open mics, and soon moved on to iconic New York venues like Caffe Lena, the Towne Crier (now Daryl's House in Pawling) and The Bitter End.

Best of luck, Sawyer — not that someone with your talent needs it!
