One of the most intense heavy metal music festivals in the country invades Connecticut this weekend, May 3, 4, and 5.

The New England Stoner and Doom Festival is a celebration of all things heavy metal and Connecticut is home base to some of the finest heavy metal bands in the country.

According to an article in the Hartford Courant, this serious power-chord themed festival has expanded from two to three days this year on May 3, 4, and 5 at Altones Music Hall in Jewitt City, Connecticut.

In case you weren't aware, stoner rock and doom are the sub-genres of heavy metal. According to festival co-promoter, Scott Harrington:

It's a very pure musical form. It's primal. It's down-tuned and it's heavy.

Some of the very best heavy metal bands from across the nation have been booked for this festival along with some of Connecticut's finest heavy metal bands. If you decide to attend, you get 40 amazing bands on two rotating stages.

Some of the Connecticut bands booked for this 3-day metal festival include, When the Deadbolt Breaks, Entierro, Bone Church, and Curse the Sun.
