Tarrytown Chinese Eatery Named Among America’s Creepiest Haunted Restaurants
Would you be OK with having a cocktail with someone from the spirit world?
Thrillist just came out with an article titled,"17 of the Creepiest Haunted Bars and Restaurants in America" just in time for Halloween, and one of those seventeen is only a 60-minute ride from CityCenter Danbury.
Let me welcome you to the King Mansion at the Tarrytown House Estate, which is just up the hill from the former home of Washington Irving author of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Currently, the King Mansion is now the home of the upscale Cantonese restaurant, Goosefeather.
The King Mansion is named after railroad executive, Thomas M. King. The story that has been passed down through generations is the ghost of King's daughter-in-law, Sybil Harris King dressed in a white gown haunts the mansion by pacing up and down the second floor.
According to the Facebook page for Haunted Destinations back in 2011, the ghost of Sybil was frequently seen in Room 293 where she supposedly died. Housekeepers have seen moving shadowy figures and some staff members actually refuse to go into the mansion alone.
