You can beat the heat doing a little day swimming in New Fairfield today.

There was no swimming yesterday at Squantz Pond State Park in New Fairfield. The swimming area was closed after water testing revealed elevated levels of bacteria. Good news, you can grab your swim trunks and bathing suits and take a dip in the water again today.

According to the Department of Energy and Environmental Services said the water was retested. Bacteria amounts are at an acceptable levels and swimming is on. The CT.gov/ DEEP site just updated the information for all of Connecticut's swimming areas and parks Friday morning July 8.

If you are ever curious about the water quality of any swimming area on our state you can call 1-866-CTPARKS.
