Connecticut Murder Suspect Captured By U.S. Marshalls in North Carolina
35-year-old Eric Lewis was recently gunned down and killed in the streets of New Haven, according to a NHPD press release.
New Haven Police detectives hurriedly rushed to the scene and were able to collect enough evidence to place a name to their suspect — Elias Jamar Rivers of 1551 Chapel St. in New Haven.
Detectives had a hunch that Rivers had left the state, and decided to call in the U.S. Marshals. At around 2pm on Monday, May 1, the U.S. Marshals corraled Rivers in Raleigh, North Carolina.
A warrant was obtained by NHPD Homicide Detective Michael Wuchek charging Rivers with Lewis's murder. Rivers, who is a convicted felon with a long rap sheet, has also been charged with criminal possession of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit. Bond has been set at $2 million.
