Sheryl Crow Dishes Exclusive To CT Radio Show on New Album
Sheryl Crow's debut album, "Tuesday Night Music Club," hit the shelves in 1993, swiftly propelling her to rock superstardom with its immediate success.
Over 30 years later, the hits keep coming as Crow is about release her 12th studio album "Evolution" on March 29th. We spoke with the lovely and talented Sheryl Crow on the Friday (2/23/24) edition of the I-95 Morning Show to learn more about the effort and what it means to her.
Lou: I want to hear you tell us about 'Evolution' dropping March 29th.
Sheryl: "The whole project, after I said I was never making another album, it's strange I had a whole bunch of songs I wrote in the matter of a month and then I didn't want to produce them. I'm like, I don't want to do the same thing I've always done, I want my mind to be totally blown, so I called this friend of mine who is an unbelievable producer who has worked with Dr. Dre, Eminem very early years, he's produced Carrie Underwood, I mean I've known him for 25 years, Mike Elizondo. He's a stand-up guy, an unbelievable musician and I sent him this little baggie of songs basically and said, do you like these and if so would you produce them? That's what happened and the production is mind-blowing, I love it so much. But this thing started off with the song Evolution and the song is about A.I. It's about where are we going with this? What is it going to mean to artists? Especially for our kids they are going to grow up with this thing that is going to be feeding them all kinds of information. Who knows what it is going to be like, so that is where it started and I wound up with an album, after I said I wasn't going to do one."
Lou: Oh see, I thought this was introspective, this is what my wife tells me I don't know what the hell women are saying.
Sheryl: "That's funny. OK, well I don't know what that says about you Lou but I believe in you. There I said it."
Lou: I love the new tune Alarm Clock, it's like maybe I'll get up, maybe I won't but I don't have to like it.
Sheryl: "I don't know how... listen, that song should be written for radio people because you guys get up at like 3:45 am. For me, I get up at 6 in the morning, get my kids out the door and you know I'm going to be honest with you I used to be a rockstar, 6 o'clock is when you went to bed. Now I'm up at 6, get my kids out the door and I hate my alarm clock so I had to write a song about it."
