Connecticut: The Land of Neverending Fake Loan Application Calls
Remember the days of answering a phone call? Yeah, I don't pick up anything either lately, this constant stream of scam loan application calls is wearing me down.
I used to pick up a call once in a while if the number originated in Connecticut near where I work or live, but that has changed over the past two years. Scammers have figured out that if the call comes from a fake location near someone geographically, maybe we're more prone to listen to what they're trying to say?

The funny thing as much as I've read the warnings from the FTC regarding these tele-scams, I still have the urge to answer a phone call if it's from Connecticut. Something that a few of you have found about the hard way is to never click on a link the scammers send out for you to 'Opt-out". According to the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.org, most of these fake loan applications have a few things in common: Did you recently apply for a loan? No? Then don't click the link.
These calls originate from somewhere close to your home, in the past week I've received fake loan application calls from: Pearl River, New York, Page, Arizona, Miami, Florida, New Milford, Litchfield, and Danbury, Connecticut, and the area codes 502,645,361,708, and numerous 262 numbers. FTC.org suggests that just like me don't answer any of these calls, block the number, and report the number to the FTC by clicking HERE.
