Putnam County’s July 4th Crackdown: What You Need to Know Before Partying
DUI Enforcement - Putnam County, NY
Ah yes, it’s almost the Fourth of July—the weekend we celebrate America by eating too much, blowing things up, and (unfortunately) making some truly awful decisions behind the wheel.

Putnam County police are reminding everyone that they’ll be out in full force for the big statewide STOP-DWI crackdown from July 3rd through July 6th, making sure no one gets behind the wheel after celebrating.” Translation: If you’re dumb enough to drive drunk this weekend, they will catch you.
Let’s be real. Once you’ve done a whole bunch of boozing, there are exactly two things you can do that are super fun and make you feel great.
Sleep.
…Well, that other thing—which may or may not result in offspring who’ll beg you for the $500 Nintendo Switch 2.
Sleep doesn’t lead to child support payments or felony charges. Just saying.

Bottom line: Don’t drive drunk. Don’t let your friends drive drunk. Download the “Have a Plan” app if you must (yep, that’s real: stopdwi.org/mobileapp). Or better yet just crash on a couch somewhere and enjoy that guilt-free snooze. You’ve earned it.
Fireworks? Good.
Burgers? Great.
Driving drunk? Nope.
I’ve woken up on a lot of random couches, and honestly, nine times out of ten, you wake up to a friendly face—someone already holding a fresh cup of coffee, just dying to recap the chaos from the night before.
Remember how much we loved sleepovers as kids? What happened to that? Now we act like our own bed is some sacred portal to Valhalla that we must defend with our lifeless, snoring bodies.
Nah. Do a sleepover.
I’m rooting for all of us to have the best Independence Day ever. Be easy, cuz… and hey—May the 4th be with you!
