This past Sunday, The Wall Street Journal published an article that stated that COVID-19 has forced one out of three small businesses to close during the pandemic here in Connecticut.

Small businesses are worse off here than in New Jersey, New York, and actually, most of the nation, where 1 in 4 small businesses have closed on the average nationally. Sadly, I just came across another closing announcement that a popular local Tapas Restaurant here in Danbury just posted to their social media account.

According to the owners, Laura and Ignacio, Ibiza Tapas, at 93 Mill Plain Road in Danbury, will be permanently closing their doors next Wednesday, December 30, 2020. They go on to say that they are grateful to everyone who was a customer of theirs over the past 10 years, and that if you have an Ibiza Tapas gift card, it will be honored at their sister restaurant, Ibiza Kitchen, which is located at 76 King Street in Chappaqua, NY, and the phone number there is 914-458-5044. The owners go on to say that they are going to be starting up a home-based online business that will locally ship specialties from Spain.

If you're unfamiliar with Tapas, it's traditionally small savory dishes, snacks, and appetizers of Spanish cuisine. Usually featuring breads and meats, seafood, olives, veggies and more. Dishes are served on both warm and cold plates, and it seems that there's always octopus on the menu, a staple of Spanish cuisine, which, after watching My Octopus Teacher on Netflix, I will personally never eat again. Good luck with your future businesses Laura and Ignacio.
