As I write this article about the abandoned Bennett School for Girls in Millbrook, NY, demolition work has begun to clear the ruins to make way for a park that will include a nearby restored community center according to the Times Union.

The adventure began after an upscale hotel ran out of cash in 1901 and an Irvington, NY schoolteacher discovered the property in 1907. The Bennett School for Girls and then Bennett College would forge ahead providing a quality education for the wealthy for 71 years.

This will be your last chance to see this landmark before the demolition crews have their way with the ruins of this magnificent structure.
