Nothing in Connecticut Can Compete Against Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun
Lots of businesses and tourist attractions use the phrase "Something for everyone' in their marketing, but I can think of only two places around here that actually do - Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.
We may not be New York City or Boston, but Connecticut is home to two of the best resort casinos in the world. Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun dwarf most of the competitors up and down the Eastern seaboard and Vegas. Nothing in Atlantic City compares to Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods, even Borgata. The mega resorts in Las Vegas like MGM Grand and Caesar's might come close in overall space, but the offerings pale in comparison to what Mohegan and Foxwoods present every day.
Over the past month I've been to both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. We went on probably their busiest day, Saturday, and took $200 each in order to enjoy ourselves. My takeaways? Foxwoods appears to have the looser slots, we both walked out with more money than we came with at Foxwoods, Mohegan took every dime. Both have the same table and video slot machines, but the dining and shopping choices are very different.
Foxwoods has Tanger Outlets, with a nice variety of national retailers selling off their overstocked items. Mohegan Sun has a fraction of the retailers that Foxwoods does, but they're well-chosen.
Both are stacked with a wide variety of dining options, both have multiple performance venues of varying size to present all levels of local and national talent. Golf courses, go-kart tracks, and soon a Great Wolf Lodge. Nothing in Connecticut can compete for all-around family entertainment like Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.
