New One-Way Street Debuting in Naugatuck This Thursday
It was a big weekend in Naugatuck, Naugapalooza weekend - the unveiling and grand opening of Naugatuck's beautiful new skate park, and there was a big Food Truck event at the hottest place in town - The Naugatuck Events Center. How do you top that on a sleepy Monday morning? The Naugatuck Police Department have announced that a brand spanking new one-way street will make its debut this week.

Earth-shattering news, right? Well, it is if you've got a kid in Hillside, or go to the church. Cliff Street is going to become a one-way street as of this Thursday, May 25, 2023. According to the Naugatuck Police Department, Cliff Street will be a one-way street for Eastbound traffic only between Walnut Street and Fairview Avenue. Why? Naugatuck PD had numerous complaints about the road being impossible to navigate due to residents legally parking in front of their place on both sides of the road. You can see in the photo above, it's a tight squeeze. An Amazon truck? A Peapod delivery truck? It's a hazard.
Naugatuck PD conducted a traffic study on the area, and considered several different fixes, including removing on-street parking, parking on one-side only, and decided that the Eastbound one-way traffic on Cliff Street was the best solution. NPD has also announced that Cliff Street will still be a two-way street from Walnut to Aetna, only the section between Fairview and Walnut will be changing to a one-way. Nice job Naugatuck, the new skate park looks incredible, book more events at the Event Center too.
