My Official Thanksgiving Pie Champion Was Made in Woodbury
There was plenty of competition for the Official Thanksgiving Pie Champion of 2024, but I will officially declare that yet again the best pie this year was made by an incredible bakery in Woodbury.
Turkey is the main event at Thanksgiving, but thanks to my Ozempic-shrunken stomach, I focused on the after-dinner sweets and pies this year. The family all brought over a nice selection of pies and sweets. There was an apple pie from Freund's in East Canaan, a pumpkin pie from Randall's Farm in Ludlow, Massachusetts, a Boston creme pie from BJ's, but we brought a maple walnut pie from Woodbury's Ovens of France, and a bottle of Arethusa Farm's eggnog for the post-turkey throwdown.
Ovens of France is a gem of a bakery, located at 660 Main St S in Woodbury's Sherman Village. We've loved, and I've written about the incredible ham and cheese and chocolate croissants many times over the years. Here is one of their ham and cheese croissants, they're works of art.
The Maple Walnut Pie we brought from Ovens of France was the overall winner, because it's lovingly made with the expertise of a master chef and baker who understands hints of flavor and subtle notes. Every product out of there has focus, it's not mass-produced.
Same can be said for Arethusa Farm and their luxurious eggnog. There are world-class artists hard at work in Woodbury/Bantam/Morris/Litchfield, creating wonderful holiday sweets.
