Mayor Mark Is on the Mend this Morning Following Collapse
Our thoughts are with Danbury's Mayor Mark Boughton this morning who collapsed last night from what appears to be a seizure.
Responders administered CPR during the emergency at a public political event that took place in Avon. There were approximately 200 people there when the mayor fell, according to News Times sources.
A doctor in attendance gave the Mayor Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and cleared his airway. The mayor was conscious and was taken via stretcher by EMS personnel for additional medical attention.
The Mayor Boughton is currently going through the process of running for Governor of Connecticut. As a former Danbury High history teacher, the 54-year-old comes to this point of his career with lots of knowledge of the city and the state.
He was admitted to the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, last night, and was said to be resting comfortably as of 10 pm.
In speaking with City Council President Joe Cavo, he said:
The Mayor is doing fine. I was with him for a while and he was resting in the Emergency Room as comfortable as anyone can be in the ER. They did a whole bunch of tests and everything looks okay. He'll be released today, and will be resuming his normal duties as our Mayor.
This medical episode comes following the Mayor's brain surgery last Summer. We here at the radio station are sending positive vibes and are wishing him a speedy recovery.
