‘Lifelike’ Traveling Dinosaur Experience Roars into Connecticut
My mom took me to Yale's Peabody Museum when I was a child, and I've been fascinated with dinosaurs since. While the Peabody undergoes it's transformation in New Haven, Dinosaur State Park in Rocky Hill needs some help satisfying our dinosaur entertainment needs. A traveling 'realistic' dinosaur experience is making a stop in Connecticut this weekend, and they're bringing an 80 foot long Apatosaurus with them.

Jurassic Quest, a traveling dinosaur exhibit, is coming to the Mohegan Sun Earth Expo and Convention Center in Uncasville this weekend, September 22-24, 2023. What can you expect? Lots of big dinosaurs, including that 80 foot Apatosaurus, a 60 foot Spinosaurus, a true-to-detail T-Rex, Triceratops, Velociraptors, and more. There will also be actors dressed up as cute dinosaurs for the little ones, and actors dressed up as Velociraptors to have some fun with the older kids. Dinosaur rides are on the list of activities, fossil digs, and more. This is definitely an event geared towards the kids, as all the rides and inflatable attractions have a 140 pound weight limit. Yet again, I miss out on that Velociraptor ride due to my weight, dammit.
Tickets run anywhere from $19-$36, and the organizers suggest you leave yourself 1-2 hours to enjoy the experience. Jurassic Quest has been here before in Connecticut, last year they set up outdoors at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.
As for the crown jewel of dinosaurs in Connecticut - Yale's Peabody Museum, it's still closed as the major renovation continues into sometime in 2024. I really can't wait to see what they've done to the place.
