Ethan Carey Hits the Road with ‘Amazing Tales’ Podcaster Mike Allen
It was a typical day in the life of podcaster Mike Allen. He was planning a road trip that included stops at seven specific locations throughout Connecticut to film promotional videos for upcoming episodes of his podcast, Amazing Tales From On & Off Connecticut's Beaten Path, one of the country's most highly rated and listened to podcasts.
Mike and I have been friends since he was the News Director at I-95 in the 1980s. He was also the key investigative reporter during the 'Devil Made Me Do It' case, which eventually became a Netflix documentary titled, 'The Devil on Trial.'
After many years in the corporate world, Mike decided it was time to walk away from the daily grind and retire—but he had a different definition for the word 'retire.'
Mike combined his skills as an investigative reporter with his homegrown storytelling prowess, and that's how his podcast, Amazing Tales From On & Off CT's Beaten Path, was born.
In early June of this year, I received an email from Mike wondering if I would be interested in tagging along on a day trip throughout Connecticut. He had mapped out seven different locations throughout Connecticut, complete with a spreadsheet to shoot promotional videos for upcoming episodes of Amazing Tales. My job was the navigator and procurer of salty snacks! We hopped in the Amazing Tales mobile at 7 a.m. on Friday, June 14th, to explore Connecticut!
