The calendar doesn't say it's time for i95's Brews and BBQ Fest yet, but it does say that today is very special. Do you know the history behind National Beer Day?

I love the National Day Calendar. So many tidbits of info, and honestly, it's like a flag waved to enjoy some guilty pleasures too! Often you gain some knowledge from it also, so it's fun rolled up with education.

So, according to the National Day Calendar, today is National Beer Day. The calendar supplied this piece of background info that I personally was unaware of.

National Beer Day is celebrated in the U.S. on April 7th because it was on this day in 1933 that the sale of alcoholic beer became legal again. A month earlier, President Franklin Roosevelt had signed legislation that ended the Prohibition Era.

Beer fans everywhere will love this - according to the FDR Library, after Roosevelt signed the legislation he said, "I think this would be a good time for a beer."

I think that on May 14th at the Ives Concert Park in Danbury at the i95 Brews & BBQ Fest we should honor President Roosevelt by shouting his quote! Make sure you can do that by getting your tickets in advance. They are cheaper that way, and include your first beer to hoist to Franklin.
