10 Animals You Cannot Keep in the State of Connecticut
I can look at an animal with awe in my heart and amazement on my face and not feel the need to live with it but that is not the case for everyone. There are tons of people who are overwhelmed with emotion when they see certain animals and they feel they must have them.

Living with an animal that can eat a quarter of its body weight in one meal, crush objects with its bite, or leap from room to room might not be ideal for everyone. Connecticut's laws keep these exotic animals where they belong – in their natural habitats.
I have a simple rule, if it mauls, I don't hang with it.
These animals are also illegal
- Kamodo Dragon
- Leopards
- Cheetahs
- Jaguars
- Bobcats
- Pumas
- Lynx
- Ocelots
- Chimpanzees
- Orangutans
- Hyaenas
- Wallabies
I'm sure there are more but I can't do this all day
The following exotic animals are allowed as pets:
- Primates under 35 lbs. at maturity and owned before 10/1/2010
- Ferrets
- Hedgehogs
- Sugar gliders
- Degus
So, it's not all bad news, you can have a Degu.
What is a Degu?
That is pretty damn cute if you ask me and unless there is something I'm not aware of, it's not going to murder you in your sleep.
