HARTransit to Start ‘Uber-Style’ Rides-on-Demand Service
HARTransit also known as Housatonic Area Regional Transit is the area's provider for public transportation in Danbury and surrounding communities. They have just announced that they are modifying their current 10 Route - Reserve Commuter Connection in Western Danbury and replacing it with an "Uber-style" rides-on-demand service where passengers can schedule rides at will, choosing pick up and drop off locations within the designated service zones. This new service is planning to start on Monday, July 19, 2021.
Currently, the 10 Route - Reserve Commuter Connection operates on a 10 stop continuous loop between 7AM and 9AM and 4PM to 6PM. The stops will stay the same after Monday's launch:
- Belimo
- Matrix (The Summit)
- Abbey Woods
- Hotel Zero Degrees
- Trader Joe's Parking Lot
- Brewster Train Station Shuttle at Exit 2 Park & Ride
- HARTransit 3 Route at Exit 2 Park & Ride
- Depart Exit 2 Park & Ride
- MCCA
- Rivington Apartments
HARTransit's new Rides-on-Demand service serves the Western Danbury area along I-84 between exits 1 and 2. The new service will allow riders to choose pick up and drop off locations within the service zone.
Say that you live somewhere along Old Ridgebury Road or throughout the surrounding neighborhoods, HARTransit has adapted their shuttle service to allow a slight manipulation of the constant loop schedule and will accommodate riders pick up and drop off locations. Very cool.
This change in format is going to be in effect for the normal service hours, which are Monday - Friday from 6:55 AM to 8:50 AM and again from 3:45 PM to 5:30 PM. To see the full schedule, schedule a ride, and for more information on how to download the Transloc App for your mobile device, click HERE
