Mayor Mark's office is laying the groundwork for a new 27-acre park in the Bear Mountain Rd. area.

The Mayor has recently learned that the late Victor G. Westman has made the City of Danbury the beneficiary of his estate at 52 Bear Mountain Rd. which includes a 27-acre parcel of land.

In his will, the late Mr. Westman made it very clear that the land should be used for open space and passive recreational purposes. According to Patch, this is what Danbury Mayor, Mark Boughton had to say about the gift.

I was able to sit down with Mr. Westman and visit his property on several occassions, and I couldn't be more thankful for his decision to will it to the city. The land will be a wonderful space to picnic or hike with your family and we can't wait to get started on it!

To honor his generous endowment to the city, the property will be named Westman Park. But wait, there's more! Get this, Mr. Westman owned a 1928 Ford Coupe and a 1930 Ford Sedan. He left both vehicles to the Connecticut Antique Machinery Association.
