If you travel along Rt. 25 thru Newtown, the landscape just opened up a bit near the train tracks in Hawleyville. I got off 84 this morning, and I was surprised to see that after being shuttered up for quite some time, the building that formerly housed the Hawleyville Deli on Hawleyville Road (Rt. 25) has been razed.

That pic above is a photo of the last remnants of the building, the site has pretty much been brought right down to the dirt, as you can see in the first photo, with a big excavator sitting right on top of where the building stood.

The other thing that really struck me as I drove by is that you can clearly see the Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company and the Mission/Allergy building from the road now, they're not hidden behind a long line of contractors getting their bacon, egg, and cheese sangwiches.

I used to stop into the Hawleyville Deli on the way in to work sometimes over the years, it's a very convenient location, and really the only game in town right off the exit at all, unless you want a cigar, or you have a fire or allergies it seems.

As to what's coming? A convenience store/gas station, of course, according to the Newtown Bee.
