Eddie Vedder Warmed Up For US Tour at the Cap in Westchester
Have you ever seen a warm-up show from your favorite group or solo artist? In 2017, I was invited to see Roger Waters perform at a dress rehearsal of his Us + Them Tour at the Meadowlands Arena in Jersey. We were told ahead of time that there might be sudden stops & starts during the show, as they worked out the kinks, but damn, it was incredible.
The Xfinity Theater in Hartford has been used by many artists as a warm up facility before their world tours. I remember hearing members of Aerosmith were seen around Hartford when they used the facility back in the early 2000's. Well, I just found out that the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY hosted a special, private warm up show for Eddie Vedder's upcoming US tour this week.
Eddie Vedder and The Earthlings played a special show on Tuesday night (Feb 1, 2022) to a crowd of less than 500 people. I've seen a few videos that fellow Ten Club members have posted online, and the Cap was rocking.
Vedder was joined onstage by a hell of a backing band, The Earthlings consists of Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers on drums, Pearl Jam/RHCP guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, Jane's Addiction Chris Haney on bass, Producer Andrew Watt on guitar, and the very talented Glen Hansard. The band's first official show on the US tour was at the Beacon Theater in NYC last night and tonight, but they shook off the rust at the Cap on Tuesday.
Vedder and the Earthlings performed a 16 song set, according to jambands.com, including 9 songs off of Vedder's upcoming solo release Earthlings, which is coming out on Feb 11, 2022. The band also ripped through covers from REM, Tom Petty, the Beatles, George Harrison, The Who, and closed out with a cover of Neil Young's Rockin' in the Free World.
Damn, I wish I got invited to this one, I hate hearing about secret shows so close to home.
