Dennis Dunaway Talks New Alice Cooper Album And Ozzy’s Goodbye
Dennis Dunaway is the legendary bassist and founding member of the original Alice Cooper Group. A Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, Dunaway helped define the shock rock genre with his groundbreaking bass work and theatrical vision.
He's now back alongside Alice Cooper, Neal Smith, and Michael Bruce with the long-awaited new album, “The Revenge of Alice Cooper,” their first full-length collaboration in over 50 years. The album is a powerful return to form, packed with all the chaos, swagger. It’s available now in stores, on Amazon, and across all major streaming platforms.

We had the chance to speak with Dennis on August 7, 2025, and our favorite moment from the conversation was when he reflected on another legendary rock star who recently passed.
Lou: I'm curious about the insider Rock & Roll perspective. You've been doing this job for many years. As fans, it was sad for us to hear about Ozzy Osbourne's passing, but not even two weeks prior, he got to go out with this massive goodbye concert that was a success by every measure, including his performance. What did you guys think of it?
Dennis: "I mean, of course it's extremely sad that he's gone, but I'm also glad they got a chance to do that final show. Even though they didn't know it was the final show, they probably had some clue, I guess. But what an amazing show—he sounded great. He sounded great, and they could have done a tour if he was still around."
Lou: Not everyone gets to write that storybook ending, but it appears that he did—he got to do it.
Dennis: "Yeah, and you know, Alice was on stage at the London O2 Arena last week—or a couple weeks ago—and Johnny Depp joined them on stage, and they did 'Paranoid.' Then Johnny stayed on stage for the encore with 'School's Out' and everything. The original group—myself, Michael Bruce, and Neal Smith—came out and joined them for that. But the crowd was chanting 'Ozzy,' and this was thousands of people chanting 'Ozzy,' and it was resounding."
