Danbury Mayor Responds To John Oliver’s Angry Danbury Rant
It didn't take much time for Danbury Mayor, Mark Boughton, to respond to John Oliver's, out-of-nowhere angry Danbury rant on his HBO Show.
It all started during John Oliver's "Last Week Tonight" show on HBO last Sunday night (August 16). Out of nowhere, he basically went off on a mean spirited rant about the city of Danbury, saying:
If you're going to forget a town in Connecticut, why not forget Danbury. Because, and this is true...F--K Danbury. From it's charming Railway Museum to it's historic Hearthstone Castle, Danbury Connecticut can eat my whole A--.
What followed after that, was basically the things he knew about the city, and then a challenge that he would take on all comers.
I know exactly three things about Danbury, USA Today ranked it the second-best city to live in in 2015, it was once the center of the American hat industry and if you’re from there you have a standing invite to come get a thrashing from John Oliver — children included — F- you.
Earlier last week, Mayor Mark said he and his staff were working on a response, and on Saturday evening, he took to Facebook and we found out just what that response was:
The Mayor even capped off the video with a reference to the last time Oliver had a problem with Danbury, when the Mayor was making a bid for Amazon to locate it's second world headquarters in the city. By the way, the video was also featured yesterday, (Sunday), on the WTNH news magazine show, "The Capital Report".
