Danbury Intends to Purchase Apple Ridge Road Site for Career Academy Says Mayor Esposito

Danbury Mayor Dean Esposito held an exciting press conference Monday (2/28/22) on the site of the future Career Academy at 40 Apple Ridge Road.

Flanked by Superintendent of Danbury Public Schools Kevin Walston, Danbury Public Works Director Antonio Iadarola, Mayor Dean Esposito had this to say:

“I’m excited for the future of the Danbury Public Schools with the Career Academy at this location. This is a game changer for the educational system in Danbury and I look forward to working in cooperation with Superintendent Walston, Public Works Director Iadarola, our state delegation, the City Council and the Board of Education to deliver a product that satisfies the needs of our city’s children now and into the future.”

The City of Danbury intends to purchase the land and build the Career Academy there after months of flirting with leadership at the facility known as The Summit, the former Matrix complex.

Also released from City Hall yesterday was a Youtube video where Mayor Dean Esposito explained what the Career Academy can do for Danbury, saying:

"The school system in Danbury is outstanding, as we all know and we're just going to make it better, and better and better, obviously incorporating this new location."

Superintendent Kevin Walston added:

"The fact that we have an opportunity to meet those needs, with a first class facility, we're really excited about this."

The Career Academy is a plan that has seen bipartisan support, as everyone agrees there is a need for an expanded classroom for experience to support the massive growth of our student base.

I have kids in Danbury schools, the classrooms and halls are crowded and the Career Academy is a major step forward in addressing those needs and giving some breathing room to our student population.
