  • Tax free back to school shopping starts this Sunday in Connecticut. You know the drill -  all clothing and footwear purchases under 100-dollars will be exempt from the sales tax of more than six percent.The week begins Sunday August 16 and runs through Saturday August 22.
  • According to WalletHub's study of the "Best and Worst States for Underprivileged Children," Connecticut ranks fourth in the nation when it comes to meeting kids needs.The survey reviewed factors like infant death rates, percentage of mistreated children, and how many kids are in foster care.
  • Eyes to the sky. Astronomers say the meteor shower that's about to happen could be the best of the year. The Perseids meteor shower runs through Friday and the website EarthSky.org says the best show of the week should be before sunrise Thursday. The American Meteor Society says the best time to watch is during the hours just before dawn. The place to look is the northeast sky.
  • Hey, Snapchat users, read this - Snapchat now has a data-saving feature they're calling "Travel Mode." The company says Travel Mode disables auto-loading of content, which its "Stories" feature does. Stories automatically updates collections of videos or photos fairly frequently and can contain several minutes of content, so disabling it can save a lot of data use.
