The Connecticut State Police - Troop B in North Canaan are looking for the public's help in trying to identify a couple of alleged purse thieves, who were caught on camera stealing a shopper's purse in a local Dollar General Store. Troopers received a 911 call on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 2PM from an elderly female shopper at the Dollar General store on New Hartford Road (Rt. 44) in Barkhamsted.

The caller reported that her purse had been stolen while she had momentarily left it in unattended inside the store. Responding Troopers reviewed the store's video surveillance, and found that as the unidentified suspect man and woman in the store passed by the unattended shopping cart, the female suspect took the purse out of the cart and placed it in her own large handbag.

The female suspect is described as 60 years old, heavyset, with brown hair with white streaks, wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. The male suspect is described as a tall 40 year old, wearing a blue jacket and a dark hat. The suspects may have been driving a blue Honda CR-V, and they are described by a Dollar General employee as store regulars, who may possibly be mother and son.
