According to WFSB, two men in Connecticut were arrested after allegedly trying to steal one of those giant green highway signs — the kind that tell you what exit to take, not the kind that fits neatly into the back of a pickup truck.

Police say it happened on I-91 in Windsor, right around 8 a.m. Broad daylight. Morning commute. Apparently, these guys managed to get the whole Department of Transportation sign loose, broke it down, and somehow wrestled it onto a seriously beat-up pickup. There’s even a photo floating around — the thing is massive, hanging over the cab and dragging out the back like some kind of government-issued surfboard.

Nobody really knows why they wanted it. It’s not like it said “Monkey Lick Lane” or something funny. Maybe it was for a man cave, a backyard bar project, or a quick scrap metal cash grab. Either way, this was not the heist of the century.

Someone who drove by at the time said they thought there’d been an accident — because, honestly, who assumes you’re watching a couple of guys steal a highway?

Both men were arrested and charged with third-degree larceny, reckless use of the highway by a pedestrian, and improper parking on a highway.

So, if you’re out driving and think, “Hey, that sign would look great in my garage,” maybe think again. Turns out, the state frowns on that sort of thing. Or maybe pick one that is a bit for manageable than our pals here. That is what we refer to as nipple head behavior.

Greater Danbury's 13 Most Amusing Photos Captured by the Google Car

Google Instant Street View is easily my favorite free application. You can take a digital cruise through the streets of Milan Italy, a drive down the PCH in California or tool around your local area without leaving your office chair. But the best use of Instant Street View is to catch unbeknownst moments. If you look long enough, hard enough, you will find some really funny things. I've spent years combing through the Greater-Danbury area Google footage and these are some of my favorite snaps.
