The original article, thanks to the Danbury Daily Voice, undertook the monumental task of ranking all 50 states using a Prosperity Index—because, obviously, we needed an Excel spreadsheet to determine where people are slightly less miserable. It examines the cost of living, average salaries, median net worth, life expectancy, and the number of households with a net worth exceeding $100,000. Bottom line: being ranked as one of the Top 10 States that has achieved the 'New American Dream' comes with a trade-off. Landing in the top 10 means CT delivers the goods on education, healthcare, and lifestyle. But it also means the Dream comes at a premium. You get the stability, safety, and opportunities — but you’ll pay more for them than you might in, say, Tennessee or Iowa.
