Comedian Jiaoying Summers Talks Comedy, and ‘White-Guilt’ on I-95

Jiaoying has made a name for herself as a force in the comedy world. Her 30-minute special, HOT GIRL SUMMERS, is streaming now on Peacock TV and Prime Video, and she's set to headline at the NY Comedy Club in Stamford, CT, tonight (Friday, February 7th) and tomorrow night (Saturday, February 8th). Before the show we got a chance to chat with Jiaoying about her struggles to adapt to a new culture and it's most sought-after industry, entertainment.

Our favorite moment happened a few moments after I'd mentioned to Jiaoying that my wife is Dominican-American.

Dave: We've seen some of your stand-up, some of your observations about what kind of white guy you are. What type of white guys are Lou and I, based off your observations so far? 

Jiaoying: "I think that Lou is like white-white. He is WHITE. Mayflower boat white. Like, Italian-American white. You have a Dominican wife so you are like white-white. You are like celebrating diversity white."

Lou: Ha, celebrating diversity white! Like white-guilt white!?

Jiaoying: "Yes, white-guilt white! Let me serve the Dominican woman, let me serve her. I am guilty."
