Cheesemongers – Where Can I Find Limburger in Connecticut?

I'm finally doing it. After decades of wondering and imagining how bad it could be, I'm going to purchase a block of limburger cheese this week.

Trouble is, I can't find the stinky stuff. Oh sure, I can take the easy road and buy it on Amazon for $7.43, but I'd much rather keep my money spent locally in Connecticut. I'd love to buy it from a cheesemonger at a local shop, but I'm having a tough time, and I hope you can help.

As a child of the 1970's, I grew up on The 3 Stooges, Little Rascals, Our Gang, and Looney Tunes cartoons. Every one of them featured a character getting grossed out by two things - Castor Oil, and Limburger Cheese. I've always been fascinated with those two items. Luckily my grandparents had an old bottle of Castor Oil in their medicine cabinet, so I satisfied my taste-curiosity way back then. In case you were wondering, from what I remember, it wasn't as gross as Spanky and Alfalfa made it out to be. That's why I want to try Limburger so bad, is it really that disgusting? I have this smell-image in my head of it being like farts and dirty socks, at least that's what every character looks like they're smelling?

I looked for Limburger cheese all weekend, it wasn't in The Market in Bantam, Big Y, Stop & Shop, LaBonne's, or Aldi. Then I went deeper, I called a beautiful new shop in Oakville, brilliantly named New Curds on the Block, and talked to owner/monger Kate. Unfortunately she didn't have any in stock, but turned me onto her picks for the stinkiest cheese in her store - Crema Alpina, and a cheese called Hooligan from Cato Corner Farm in Colchester.

Please, I'd really like to order it from someone here in state, if you have a stash of the stinky, let me know.
