Where Was New Milford Ranked in the Top 100 Places in CT List?

Niche recently issued its list of the Top 100 Places to live in Connecticut. They used metrics from the Census Bureau and the FBI to aid in their mission to find CT's best hometowns.

When all was said and done, they concluded that West Hartford is Connecticut's best place to live.

Here are the Top 10

1 - West Hartford

2 - Weatogue

3 - Glastonbury Center

4 - Old Greenwich

5 - Avon

6 - Simsbury

7 - Cos Cob

8 - Westport

9 - Riverside

10 - Glastonbury

That is terrific and all, but as soon as the list was published, I skimmed through to see how Greater Danbury did. This is how we were represented.

17. Ridgefield

53 - Newtown

59 - Brookfield

92 - Bethel

That is correct. Danbury, New Fairfield, and New Milford did not even make the list. Look, part of me did not expect Danbury and New Fairfield to get a lot of shine on this list, but to leave New Milford OFF the list is a crime.

Anyone who has stepped foot inside New Milford knows it's certainly worthy of the Top 20 places to live in Connecticut. You mean to tell me New Milford isn't better than Hebron? New Milford is inferior to Marlborough? We can't take Byram behind the woodshed and give them an ass whooping?

This list is bogus, and I'm calling for a full-scale protest of this poppycock drivel. New Milford is twenty times better than stupid Woodmont and possibly a thousand times better than Coventry.

I invite the authors of this list to go walk the trails at Lover's Leap and see if your breath is not robbed from your lungs. Take a stroll down Bank Street, and when you're done, check to see if your socks are still there. Oh, no? They are gone? That is because your socks were knocked off.

Sometimes we need to call horse manure when we smell it, and there is some funk in the air. Niche, you're wrong, and I'm inviting you to take another look and see if you don't need to revise this bad boy.

Also, watch out for Danbury because we are a few tweaks away from going to #1 on this list after being completely and rudely left out.

"Candlewood" is a horror film that just finished filming in New Milford, CT. This is how the filmmakers described the project on their Indiegogo:

"Candlewood is the first movie of three in the psychological/horror feature film franchise. A blended family moves from the city to a small town in Connecticut, where a local urban legend adds chaos and terror to an already fragile family dynamic. The staunch patriarch, who desperately wants his family to not see him as a failure but as the father that did everything, he could to keep his family together through difficult times. Candlewood follows a family leaving New York City for a simpler life in the country town of New Milford, CT. The haunting and mysterious true stories of missing hikers near a popular state park, Lover's Leap, coupled with the town of Jerusalem sitting at the bottom of Candlewood Lake gives credibility to our narrative. We bring to life the struggle of good vs evil and what happens when lifelong, outdated traditions are challenged."

A while back I got in touch with the folks behind the movie, invited them on the I-95 Morning Show with Ethan, Lou and Dave and talked about the film, and shooting in New Milford. We spoke with Director Myke Furhman and Writer/Executive Producer Victoria Flores-Argue. During that discussion, I demanded to be in the movie, telling the duo that I have some experience acting on TV shows that never actually made it onto TV. Against all odds, they did invite me to participate and I visited the set on October 20th to shoot a scene that is important. I was extremely nervous and I had zero idea of what I was in for. Below are some insider moments from my day on-set and from others.
