The caller said that William Perkins, a 78-year-old resident of the house, had pointed a gun at another family member and was preventing them from leaving the residence.

When Troopers arrived, the victim was able to escape and was escorted to a safe location. They told Troopers that Perkins was still inside the house with a loaded firearm. Perkins then barricaded himself inside the residence, which led to a standoff lasting approximately three hours. During this time, Perkins fired the handgun three times, both inside and outside the house.

Efforts to contact Perkins by phone were unsuccessful. However, at around 8:13 PM, Troopers spotted him sitting near the front door. They gave him verbal commands, and Perkins was taken into custody without further incident. A firearm was found near where he had been sitting, and it was seized as evidence.

Perkins was first taken to the hospital for evaluation and then transported to Troop K for processing. He faces several charges, including:

  • C.G.S. 53a-182 – Disorderly Conduct
  • C.G.S. 53-203 – Illegal Discharge of a Firearm (3 Counts)
  • C.G.S. 53a-183b – Interfering with an Emergency Call
  • C.G.S. 53a-61aa – Threatening in the First Degree
  • C.G.S. 53a-63 – Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree
  • C.G.S. 53a-95 – Unlawful Restraint in the First Degree

Perkins is being held on a $500,000 bond and will appear in Norwich Superior Court on February 18, 2025.

Old people scare the crap out of me. Can you imagine this dude (allegedly) pointing a gun at you?

Life is scary enough on its own without a Carmine Lupertazzi look-alike in suspenders waving his piece in my face (allegedly).

Look, it's uncanny.

Viral: Suspect Mugshots Released! Danbury Kidnapping Perps Inspire Big Laughs

Greater Danbury's 13 Most Amusing Photos Captured by the Google Car

Google Instant Street View is easily my favorite free application. You can take a digital cruise through the streets of Milan Italy, a drive down the PCH in California or tool around your local area without leaving your office chair. But the best use of Instant Street View is to catch unbeknownst moments. If you look long enough, hard enough, you will find some really funny things. I've spent years combing through the Greater-Danbury area Google footage and these are some of my favorite snaps.
