World Cup/Euro sports

OK, this will not be as ignorant as you think......

I want to like the World Cup, I really do!  Patriotism should involve us caring that we are competing in international sports whether it's baseball or lawn darts we should do everything we can to support an American team no matter what the sport.  I want to like the World Cup, I do but I did not play soccer.  Soccer and hockey were not available for a variety of reasons when I was growing up.  It was Football, baseball and basketball and you played multiple sports and positions within those sports when I was growing up.  I am however open minded enough to embrace anything our country participates in so I can root for them.  The last World Cup I was watching everyday.  We had a really good team and they were competitive with the rest of the world.  However, I cannot figure this game out.  I did not play soccer so I don't know how or why they finish the games.  It's weird.  The official just decides?  OK, We are done today!?  The fact is I will watch international soccer in spite of the game of soccer, cause it's boring.  International fans can say it's the real man's sport or the sport of the world but it's still girly.  The collisions are accidental and when they are on purpose someone flops.  If the rest of the world wants to tell me that "American" football is lame because they wear pads, their argument SHOULD be or have something to do with rugby.  That however is not the argument they make.  Soccer sucks ass as a TV product.  Rugby is cool, very cool but I also think the rest of the world thinks because that is the bravest sport that means they have the best athletes, NOT TRUE.  Rugby is cool and all but America has the best athletes in the world.  Do you know why?  Because in spite of the redneck morons who try and prevent it our country is a melting pot.  I could start making really offensive generalizations but I won't.  This country is STILL and ALWAYS be near or the top of international sports and there is a reason for that!
