I have bad news for you Fairfield County, you may be the last corner of Connecticut that remains loyal to New York City. I can feel Boston's influence everywhere here, except when I'm in you.

Welcome to Connecticut: First, let me ask you, are you a Yankees or Red Sox Fan? Islanders, Rangers, or Bruins? Jets, Patriots, or Giants? New England creamy, or Manhattan red? We're in the middle of two of the most influential cities in the United States - New York City and Boston, and we lean one way or the other here.

I've always been a New York City guy, but I've always felt at home in most of Connecticut wearing my Yankee cap. I used to think that I-91 was the dividing line between Boston and New York influence, but now I'm not so sure since I've moved to Torrington. The New York influence is unmistakable around Danbury, New Milford, Litchfield, and Southbury, but I've seen more Red Sox and Patriots jerseys in Torrington.

I feel as though Rt. 8 is now the dividing line in Connecticut, and maybe I-84 in the Western part between Waterbury and Danbury. Hartford is Hartford, in 2024, you're at home in a Raider's jersey or a puffy coat from LL Bean there, but not in the 1990's. I was baited so many times by the Sox fans for my Yankee hat. Hartford has always had a strong Boston feel to it.

Hold strong Fairfield County, Tom and Bill are gone, and one of these years the New Milford line may be reconnected.
