Where are the Closest White Castle/Waffle Houses to Connecticut?
I'm really sick of buying frozen White Castle sliders from Big Y and Stop & Shop, but if I want the fresh, hot real thing, where can I go? Connecticut has almost every fast food restaurants that exists, except the two Big W's - White Castle and Waffle House. How far do you have to travel for the real thing? I did some research.
I know it's out of the ordinary, but I truly would drive 6-8 hours for my favorite meal. Have you ever heard of the Nordic Lodge in Rhode Island? It's an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet, and it's around a two hour drive from Western Connecticut. If you can stomach a 45 minute drive, you can find the closest White Castle to Connecticut in Yonkers, New York. The closest White Castle to the Connecticut state border is located at 945 S. Broadway in Yonkers, NY. It's located around a half a mile from end of the Cross-County Parkway, and it's also a 24hour location, so if you need a bag of crispy chicken breast or double cheese sliders at 4AM, head to the outskirts of the city that never sleeps.
New York may have White Castle, but Pennsylvania has the closest Waffle House to Connecticut. Waffle House #1745 is located at 708 Davis Street in Scranton, Pennsylvania, which is around a 2-1/2 hour drive from Western Connecticut and Danbury.
There is no chance of Waffle House coming to Connecticut anytime soon, I've asked the company for decades, but the closest they've come from their Southern roots is Pennsylvania. White Castle? Who knows. We have the burger lust and the money, why haven't they crossed our border?
