Putnam County Sheriff: Westchester Man Facing Felony Weed Charges in Carmel
An undercover investigation led to felony charges for a Westchester County man for allegedly selling weed in Putnam County.
In January, the Town of Kent Police Department, while investigating an unrelated case, developed information that 56-year-old Anthony Bucaj, of Bronxville was allegedly selling drugs in the Town of Carmel.
The Kent Police Department passed along the information to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Enforcement Unit, which began an undercover operation.
An undercover deputy sheriff bought weed from Bucaj on at least three occasions, police say.
On Tuesday, Bucaj was arrested in the parking lot of a shopping plaza in Carmel. He was charged with three counts of criminal sale of marijuana, felonies, and three counts of criminal possession of marijuana, misdemeanors.
Bucaj was arraigned in Town of Carmel Justice Court was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $25,000 bail bond.
If found guilty of the felony charges, he could face up to four years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to $5,000 on each count.
